Nobody nearby should go hungry when a bhandara is just around the corner.
Bhandara & Seva helps people find free food, water and community seva near them, and helps the people who organize it reach everyone who needs it.
The idea
Seva is everywhere. Finding it shouldn't depend on luck.
Every day, across our towns and cities, families, temples, gurudwaras, trusts and neighbours serve free food, cold water in summer, blankets in winter, books for students and health check-ups for anyone who walks in.
But most of it is shared by word of mouth or a forwarded message, and many people who need it most never hear about it in time. Organizers cook for 500 and don't know if 50 or 1,000 will come.
Bhandara & Seva brings it all onto one simple map: what's happening near you, right now and coming up, so people can find seva, and seva can find people.
“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” Often attributed to Mahatma Gandhi. It's the spirit behind every bhandara, langar and seva we help share.
How it works
Three simple steps
Open the app or website: no account needed to look around.
Find
See bhandaras and seva events near you on a list or a map, within 5 km to start, and wider if you like. Filter by today, upcoming, or type of seva.
Serve
Go and receive, or go and help. Tap “I'm going” so organizers know how many to expect. Organizers post their event with photos, timing, location and what's being served.
Share
Share any event to WhatsApp, Instagram or Facebook in one tap, with photos and directions, so it reaches people who aren't on the app yet.
Kinds of seva
More than food
Bhandara is where it began, but seva comes in many forms.
